Housing for Seniors

In each of its eight senior citizen residences, RiseBoro provides to ensure the overall stability and well-being of our tenants. The programming involves both recreation and social service components, and is aimed at improving the tenants' quality of life by addressing their most pressing physical and mental health and cognitive issues. The long-term goal is to delay and even prevent institutionalization and life in more restrictive settings by encouraging the tenant to not only "age in place," but thrive as active members of their community. Services include:

  • Outreach and isolation intervention
  • Home visits
  • Escorts to medical appointments
  • Advocacy
  • Crisis intervention as needed
  • Enhanced individualized support, including case management and telephone reassurance

Recreational and educational programming includes:

  • Arts instruction
  • Basic computer classes
  • Yoga instruction
  • Dance and exercise (movement) classes
  • English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) classes

The program staff are all bilingual in either English/Spanish or English/Chinese, a necessity for our senior population.
