Homelessness Prevention

RiseBoro's Community Empowerment Center combines a variety of services to ensure community residents stay in their homes and avoid homelessness. RiseBoro is proud to operate our Homebase program in Bushwick and Brownsville, which has consistently rated as a top-performer in New York City since its inception. The unique program model combats homelessness by combining and coordinating legal assistance and social services within a single location. Staff attorneys provide low and moderate income tenants from Bushwick, Williamsburg, and Brownsville with individualized services to prevent evictions.  FREE services available to qualified households include:

  • Legal services
  • Homelessness prevention
  • Case management
  • Employment services
  • Emergency rental assistance
  • Public benefits advocacy
  • Third party mediation
  • Tenants' Rights Workshops
  • Financial Literacy Courses
  • Community referrals for supportive services

If you are homeless or fear you may become homeless, call one of our offices within your community. Or call 311 and ask to be connected to the nearest homelessness prevention office. See our office listings for Homebase.

A special thanks to the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS). The majority of our funding is through the DHS Homebase program, which is a nationally recognized homeless prevention model and finalist for the Harvard Innovations in American Government Award.
